You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet: What God's Word Says About Your Next Season

Meta Description: God's greatest works aren't behind you — they're ahead. A powerful message from Isaiah 43 about trusting God for what's coming next. What if everything you've experienced so far — every answered prayer, every breakthrough, every season of faithfulness — was just practice?

That's the question I want to sit with you in today. Because if Isaiah 43 says anything to us, it says this: you ain't seen nothing yet.

Honoring the Past Without Living There

The backdrop of Isaiah 43 is a people in transition. God's people had been displaced, their familiar world disrupted, and their circumstances gave them every reason to wonder about the future. And yet, God speaks directly into their uncertainty.

He begins by reminding them of what He had already done — the parting of the Red Sea, the defeat of Pharaoh's armies, the Exodus itself. Every generation had rehearsed that story. When they wanted to talk about God's power, they pointed to the Red Sea. When they wanted to talk about His deliverance, they talked about Egypt.

They had a history that gave them reason to trust God. And so do you.

Maybe you've had more bills than money, and somehow the lights stayed on. Maybe a relationship tried to take you out, but you're still standing. Maybe you've walked through a season that should have broken you — and it didn't. That's not luck. That's a track record with God.

But here's where the text does something surprising. Right after God calls them to remember His mighty works, He says this:

"Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. Now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." — Isaiah 43:18-19 (NKJV)

He's not asking them to erase history. He's calling them to look past it. The Exodus cannot become the limit of their expectations. And our greatest testimonies cannot become the ceiling of our faith.

Don't Get Stuck in the Rearview Mirror

There is a real danger in celebrating what God has done so much that we stop expecting what God will do. We can tell the stories of His faithfulness and begin to act as if all His mighty works belong to our memories instead of our future.

They knew what God could do in the sea. Now they had to trust what He would do in the wilderness.

That's where the Word meets us today. Your circumstances may have changed. The shape of your deliverance may look different than it did before. But His covenant faithfulness remains the same. Not a contractual agreement — a covenant. And God's covenant is that He will never leave you, never forsake you, and never let you down.

Don't let your past hold your future hostage.

Expect God to Do Something New

The text says, "Behold, I will do a new thing." That word "behold" is a command to pay attention. God is about to do something worth watching for.

I love the image of waiting at the right bus stop. When you know you're in the right place, at the right time, you stretch your neck to see what's coming. You don't sit down and give up. You lean forward with expectation.

That's the posture God is calling us to. Reaching forward. Stretching toward what He's doing next.

He has not done it all yet. There is more to His purpose than what you have experienced. There is more to His power than what you have already witnessed.

Pay Attention to What's Emerging

The text says, "Now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it?"

The worst thing in the world is for God to be doing something new and you miss it because you're stuck in what was. Something can be significant before it becomes substantial. God may be doing something in your life right now that looks small — a conversation, a burden on your heart, a door cracking open — but He is doing something that's about to come up through the ground.

Don't create an environment where it can't grow. Be willing to shift. Be willing to move. Be open to the new thing He is doing, even when it doesn't look like what He did before.

Trust God to Make a Way

The final promise of the text is the most personal: "I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."

Not a road where roads already exist. A road where there was nothing but wilderness. Rivers where there was nothing but desert.

That's the God we serve. He is not a resource — He is the source and supplier of every good and perfect gift. And He is about to make a way that you have never seen before.

When you don't know what's next, trust God. When the season is shifting, trust God. When the familiar is becoming unfamiliar, trust God. He knows the plans He has for you — plans that will prosper, not harm you. Plans for a future and a hope.

Whatever season you're walking into right now, I want you to hear this clearly: your testimony gives you reason to trust Him for your tomorrow. You've seen Him save. You've seen Him sustain. You've seen Him provide and restore. And after all you have seen, there is still more to discover about the faithfulness of God.

Lift up your head. A new season is ahead. And you ain't seen nothing yet.

If this message stirred something in you, I'd encourage you to watch the full sermon and share it with someone who needs a word of hope today. And if you're searching for a church home or want to take a next step in your faith, we'd love to walk that journey with you.
