The Battle You Can't See Is Real — And You're Not Fighting It Alone
Meta Description: Pastor [Name] launched a new series on the supernatural, revealing the very real spiritual battle happening around us — and how to stand firm. Have you ever felt like every time you take a step toward God, something pushes back? You decide to pray more and your mind wanders constantly. You commit to honoring God in your marriage and suddenly you're fighting more than ever. You get serious about your faith and temptation intensifies. Pastor [Name] opened Sunday's message with exactly that question — and the answer he gave us was both sobering and deeply encouraging.
This past weekend, Pastor [Name] launched week one of our new five-week series called Supernatural, and from the very first moments of his message, it was clear this series is going to be one we'll be talking about for a long time.
There's More Going On Than What We Can See
Pastor [Name] began by naming something many of us have sensed but couldn't quite articulate: people are fascinated by the supernatural because, deep down, we know there's more to reality than what our eyes can see. And the Bible confirms it.
He took us straight to Ephesians 6:12, where the Apostle Paul writes:
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
The Greek word Paul uses for "struggle," Pastor [Name] explained, literally means hand-to-hand combat — not a distant battle, but something intensely personal. That's why spiritual opposition feels so close. It's targeting your thoughts, your peace, your marriage, your children, your finances. It's not random. It's assigned.
He was careful to point out two common mistakes believers make: overemphasizing spiritual warfare (blaming the devil for everything) or underemphasizing it entirely (dismissing it as something only "weird churches" talk about). Both extremes, he reminded us, are not just wrong — they're dangerous.
When You Can't See What God Is Doing
One of the most powerful moments of the message came when Pastor [Name] brought us to 2 Kings 6, where the prophet Elisha's servant woke up to find an enemy army surrounding the city. Terrified, he reported back to Elisha — who responded with words that stopped us in our tracks:
"Don't be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them."
Then Elisha prayed that God would open the servant's eyes. And when He did, the servant saw the hills filled with horses and chariots of fire. The army of God had been there the entire time.
"Nothing changed except what he could see," Pastor [Name] observed. "The problem was he couldn't see into the supernatural. His facts were right, but his conclusion was wrong."
That insight landed hard. Some of us are in exactly that place right now — facing a very real battle, whether in our marriage, our family, our health, or our finances. The battle is real. But so is the army of God. What you see is not all there is.
When God Hears on Day One But You Wait Until Day Twenty-One
Pastor [Name] then took us to Daniel 10, where Daniel prayed and fasted for three weeks with no visible answer. On the twenty-first day, an angel finally appeared with this stunning word from Daniel 10:12:
"Since the first day you began to pray, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer."
The angel had been sent immediately — but a demonic force had blocked his way for twenty-one days, until the archangel Michael intervened and cleared the path.
Pastor [Name] made this deeply personal, sharing how he and his wife Amy had prayed for months to find a home for a ministry serving women coming out of trafficking and abuse. Every door closed. They began to wonder if they'd heard God at all. Then, completely out of nowhere, a woman they'd never met — who had been renovating a home to sell for profit — felt prompted by God to furnish it with bunk beds and a commercial kitchen, and then to donate it entirely to their ministry.
"From the first moment we prayed," he said, his voice full of conviction, "God heard that prayer in heaven and released His Spirit to speak to someone we didn't even know about."
If you've been praying for a child, a marriage, or a loved one and nothing seems to be changing — that story was for you. Don't confuse God's silence with God's absence.
Spiritual Battles Require Spiritual Weapons
So how do we fight a battle we can't see? Pastor [Name] was direct: you can't punch the devil, and you can't fight him in your own strength. Spiritual battles require spiritual weapons.
He walked us through the full armor of God from Ephesians 6 — the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the belt of truth, the shoes of the gospel of peace, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
"Be in the Word," he urged. "Let the Word be in you. Open it. Live it. Believe it. Memorize it. You can't play offense without an offensive weapon."
His closing charge was a rallying cry for the whole church:
"Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power." — Ephesians 6:10
The devil is defeated. Christ is risen. We are called to stand in the victory Jesus already paid for — not cowering in fear, but boldly proclaiming the gospel, praying with faith, and refusing to live like the enemy has won.
You Don't Have to Fight Alone
Pastor [Name] closed the message by inviting anyone in a battle to lift their hands — and the response around the room was a powerful reminder that none of us are walking through this alone. He led the congregation in prayer, speaking against darkness, declaring healing, and asking God to set captives free.
If you missed Sunday's message, we'd strongly encourage you to watch the full sermon. And if you're in a battle right now — don't carry it alone. Reach out to someone in your church family, get connected in a Life Group, and let the community around you stand with you.
The series is just getting started. Week two is on the Holy Spirit, and if week one is any indication, you don't want to miss what's coming.
