This past Sunday felt like something special from the very first song. Our kids led us in worship, and I couldn't help but think of Psalm 150:6 — "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord." Those children showed us exactly how it's done. And then, song after song, the Holy Spirit kept drawing us back to the same beautiful, unshakeable truth: it's all about the blood.
That's what I want to sit with today. Because I think it's a message we need not just on Sunday morning, but every single day of the week.
There Is No Other Name
We opened with Acts 4:12, and I want you to read these words slowly:
"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
In a world that offers a thousand different paths to peace, a thousand different solutions to the ache in the human heart, the Bible is clear — there is one name. One source. One hope. And His name is Jesus.
That's not a narrow-minded statement. That's the most liberating truth you'll ever encounter.
The Precious Blood That Changes Everything
We sang Nothing But the Blood together, and those old words hit differently when you really stop to hear them:
"What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus."
The Apostle Peter put it this way in 1 Peter 1:18-19:
"For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life inherited from your fathers, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ."
Silver and gold can buy a lot of things. But they cannot buy what your soul actually needs. Only the precious blood of Christ can do that.
And then Paul reminds us in Ephesians 1:7:
"In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace."
Redemption. Forgiveness. Grace. These aren't just theological words — they are the story of every person who has ever come to Jesus broken and walked away whole.
It Was Never About Your Performance
One of the songs we sang this Sunday stopped me in my tracks. The lyrics cut right to the heart of something so many of us struggle with:
"It's never been about performance or perfection or striving for acceptance — it's only by the blood. It's never been about deserving or earning — it's a gift that's freely given — it's only by the blood."
How many of us are exhausted from trying to be good enough? From striving, performing, earning our way into God's favor? I want you to hear this today, friend: you cannot earn what has already been freely given.
The blood of Jesus doesn't reward the deserving. It rescues the desperate. It doesn't go to those who've got it all together. It flows to those who know they don't.
That's grace. And it is glorious.
Washed From the Inside Out
The most powerful moment of the morning for me was when we sang about being washed from the inside out. The song described the moment when shame hits the wayside and sin meets the Most High — and everything changes.
That's the testimony of every believer. You don't just get cleaned up on the outside. Jesus does something no self-help program, no resolution, no amount of willpower can do — He transforms you from the inside out.
When your shame meets the most high God, something miraculous happens. You are washed. You are made new. You are free.
